Hey! How are we all? Quick catch-up on the shows n' things I've been consuming as of late. (plus some doodles and info on scans!)

The latest series of Taskmaster finished on Wednesday and left me in a big mess of emotions. Series 5 had the best lineup so far, and there was nobody I loved any less than the others. Also, we need to talk about Mark Watson and Nish Kumar. I mean, what total darlings! Mark was utterly charming and bumbled his way through the tasks in his own Mark-y way. I was really rooting for him, and if it wasn't for him tragically overthinking the most basic things, he could've won! Plus, I feel he was definitely handicapped by his relationship with Alex. This frequently led me to cursing at my screen about injustices of Greg's scoring.
And Nish. Hoo boy, what a force of nature. How he manages to repeatedly do the absolute worst and still be that positive is beyond me. Also, his turns of phrase give me giggles. (How d'you like them apples, Gregory?!) His and Mark's team-tasks were always brilliant, much more so in that music task. I'm just going to link to it here, because everyone needs to see these two losers being awesome and funny and talented. Can Diverse Stripes play in my town pls
Travel Man is back, thank god. So far it's all been excellent as per usual, with lovely guests and activities. Not sure if it's giving me urges to travel, or just the need to visit nice European restaurants with Richard's company.

Audio-wise, I've been listening to the repeats of Bridget Christie Minds the Gap, and The Horne Section that are currently available on iPlayer. Bridget is her usual amazing self, no question about that. I've recently gotten into The Horne Section after try to earlier this year and failing. I don't know exactly what changed, but I think their humour finally just clicked with me, I guess. If you want an introduction to their stuff check out these videos. I had a week where I just obsessively watched and rewatched their stuff, thinking to myself 'why has it taken me so long to get into them, this is wicked!' Speaking of obsessions...
Mae Martin's Guide to 21st Century Addiction really hit me hard. In it, she talks about a childhood full of obsessive, fannish behaviour that sounded frighteningly similar to mine (right up to a comedy fandom LiveJournal, I mean really!) She also discusses how you can become harmfully addicted to things other than drugs (in her case, Bette Midler and Stand-Up comedy). For anyone who's been a 'hardcore' fan of anything, it's well worth a listen.
On a lighter note, The Elis James and John Robins Podcast has been accompanying my ears while I work recently. I'm a big podcast fan, having started listening to them since the Adam and Joe 6Music ones, all those years ago. Have also been dipping my toe into the archives of the Josh Widdicombe Podcast, as well as Alex Horne Breaks the News. All good stuff!

Finally, I've been collecting retro (90's..?) comedy memorabilia from eBay, and have so far obtained: the Fist of Fun tie-in book, which has already been scanned in it's entirety and put online; DEADPAN, the stand-up comedy mag from the mid-nineties which I brought for the Lee and Herring interview alone, but also has other big names ~before they were famous~, and is as yet unscanned; and finally, the brochure for the 1997 Footlights review, featuring UNSEEN images and text from Richard Ayoade, John Oliver and Matthew Holness as fresh-faced youths. There are some glorious pics of them frolicking in a field, which I endeavour to scan and deliver to you all as soon as I can!

That's it for the time being, but here are some bonus little doodles I've done recently...

Some young Stewart Lees I attempted to doodle... his face is so difficult to get looking right! (Damn you, stupid sexy Stew!)

So, clockwise from top-left: inspired by a mugshot of Taika Waititi from when he was just starting out; a drawing of me (yes, my face!) for an icon I was making; two Mark Watson's looking adorable (hoping general adorableness has been captured in my drawing); my first and second ever drawings of Alex Horne, who's face is deceivingly difficult to understand! I couldn't quite work out where his beard ended and his face begun, so I hunted around the net for beardless pics. (Here is what I, erfound.) Finally, an unfished Stewart Lee and Richard! Because we always need more Richard.

And finally, my debut Nish's! I drew the chibi one first, so I could get a better feel his face. Wumar fanart is imminent.
